Getting Started with PVMI
So you have been, or you want to grow one or more PVMI variety seed potatoes. Here is a step by step process that will get you licensed.
If you will be growing any PVMI cultivar in 2010 –
- Print off the 2010 PVMI Sub-License Agreement, or, if you held a 2009 PVMI Sub-License Agreement, print off the 2010 PVMI Sub-License Agreement - Renewal.
- Indicate on the front page the cultivars you will be growing, also fill in the name of your business and the address that you want this license to cover.
- Date and sign at right hand side of the bottom of page 1.
- Post the sub-license agreement with a check* to:

Eagle, ID 83616 - Within 30 days of shipping for sale, print off and fill in the 2010 Royalties Calculation Form using your territory's $US/CWT.
- Post the Royalties Form with check* to the same address listed in step 4.
When PVMI receives the license and check it will notify sources of PVMI variety seed that you are a license holder and are entitled to receive materials. In addition, if you would like to take advantage of the publicity offered by the PVMI website you can be listed as a source of the PVMI seed that you grow.
If you grew any PVMI cultivar in 2009 –
- Print off the 2009 PVMI Sub-License Agreement.
- Indicate on the front page the cultivars you will be growing, also fill in the name of your business and the address that you want this license to cover.
- Date and sign at right hand side of the bottom of page 1.
- Post the sub-license agreement with a check* to:

Check*
The cost of the sub-license varies dependent on the location of your operation. The license lasts for a year and allows you to grow any number of the PVMI varieties selected by the PVMI Board.
- If you are a Tri-States seed grower the cost for 2009 and prior years was $250 annually; from 2010 onwards the cost is $100 annually. The royalties due to PVMI are $.25/CWT, 30 days after sale, for all years.
- If you are a US seed grower but not located in the Tri-States the cost for 2009 and prior years was $500 annually; from 2010 onwards the cost is $250 annually. The royalties due to PVMI are $.50/CWT, 30 days after sale, for all years.
- If you are non-US seed grower the cost for 2009 and prior years was US$1,000; from 2010 onwards the cost is US$250 annually. The royalties due to PVMI are US$1.00/CWT, 30 days after sale, for all years.
