Getting Started with PVMI

So you have been, or you want to grow one or more PVMI variety seed potatoes. Here is a step by step process that will get you licensed.

If you will be growing any PVMI cultivar in 2008 –

  1. Print off the 2008 PVMI Sub-License Agreement.
  2. Indicate on the front page the cultivars you will be growing, also fill in the name of your business and the address that you want this license to cover.
  3. Date and sign at right hand side of the bottom of page 1.
  4. Post the sub-license agreement with a check* to:

  5. Within 30 days after shipping for sale, print off and fill in the Royalties Calculation Form using your territories $US/CWT.
  6. Post the Royalties Form with check* to the same address listed in step 4.

When PVMI receives the license and check it will notify sources of PVMI variety seed that you are a license holder and are entitled to receive materials. In addition, if you would like to take advantage of the publicity offered by the PVMI website you can be listed as a source of the PVMI seed that you grow.

If you have been growing any PVMI cultivar in 2007 –

  1. Print off the 2007 PVMI Sub-License Agreement.
  2. Indicate on the front page the cultivars you are growing, also fill in the name of your business and the address that you want this license to cover.
  3. Date and sign at right hand side of the bottom of page 1.
  4. Post the first page of the sub-license agreement with a check* to:

  5. Print off and fill in the Royalties Calculation Form using your territories $US/CWT.
  6. Post the Royalties Form with check* to the same address listed in step 4.

If you have been growing any PVMI cultivar in 2006 –

  1. Print off the 2006 PVMI Sub-License Agreement.
  2. Indicate on the front page the cultivars you grew, also fill in the name of your business and the address that you want this license to cover.
  3. Date and sign page 9.
  4. Post the sub-license agreement with a check* to:

  5. Print off and fill in the Royalties Calculation Form using your territories $US/CWT.
  6. Post the Royalties Form with check* to the same address listed in step 4.

 

Check*

The cost of the sub-license varies dependent on the location of your operation. The license lasts for a year and allows you to grow any number of the PVMI varieties selected by the PVMI Board.

  • If you are a Tri-States seed grower the cost is $250 annually with $.25/CWT royalties due to PVMI 30 days after sale.
  • If you are a US seed grower but not located in the Tri-States the cost is $500 annually with $.50/CWT royalties due to PVMI 30 days after sale.
  • If you are non-US seed grower the cost is $1,000US for an annual fee with $1.00US/CWT royalties due to PVMI 30 days after sale.

 


If you want to grow and evaluate any pre-released advanced line in 2007 and are not a PVMI licensee –

  1. Print off the PVMI Participation for Evaluation Purposes Application Form.
  2. Fill in the one page form and indicate the reason for wanting to become a PVMI Participant along with the name of your business and the address.
  3. Date and sign.
  4. Post the agreement with the correct Fee* to:

  5. Print off the PVMI Private Party Material Transfer (MTA) Agreement limiting your use and commercial production/sale associated with the experimental line. Complete the form and post the MTA agreement to the researcher from whom you are requesting the material from.

 

Fee*


The participation fee is an annual fee, due in advance, equivalent to the annual PVMI License Fee depending on the area that a grower is located.

  • If you are a Tri-States seed grower the cost is $250 annually
  • If you are a US seed grower but not located in the Tri-States the cost is $500 annually
  • If you are non-US seed grower the cost is $1,000US annually
